“New Abortion Caravan” Hits Winnipeg With Graphic Abortion Signs and Bloody Post-Card Drops, Circles Human Rights Museum With Huge Trucks Saying, “Let The Children In.”
Winnipeg, MB. The Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform (CCBR) rolled into Winnipeg on Wednesday with a two-dozen strong team of young people, thousands of graphic abortion postcards to be delivered to Winnipeg homes, and graphic handheld signs of abortion. Their two box-bodied trucks, featuring billboards seven feet high and twenty feet long with huge, bloody pictures of aborted fetuses, plan to circle the under-construction Human Rights Museum.
“Since 1969, doctors have had the ability to ‘approve’ the butchery of some pre-born children,” said CCBR’s executive director Stephanie Gray,“And since 1988 it's been open season on pre-born children, putting us in a category with countries like North Korea and China. This is a shameful abrogation of human rights. So we’re sending a message to Canadians who support the Human Rights Museum: Let the children in. This isn’t history; this is happening 266 times every day and it's got to stop.”
The anti-abortion New Abortion Caravan appropriated its title from the Vancouver Women’s Caucus’ 1970 Abortion Caravan, which also travelled from the Vancouver Art Gallery to Ottawa and is credited with being the catalyst for Canada’s current status quo on abortion.
“The old Abortion Caravan fought for the right to dismember pre-born children in the name of women’s rights,” Gray stated, “The New Abortion Caravan seeks to defend these children in the name of human rights.”
Counter-protests to the caravan have been organized in Winnipeg and across Ontario by the Canadian Auto Worker’s Union, with the assistance of political groups such as the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada, who have been infuriated by the appropriation of the 1970 Caravan’s trademark.
“The pro-choice crowd is scared, because they know we’re exposing what the choice they refer to actually is,” said Gray, “Which is the decapitation, dismemberment, and disembowelment of pre-born Canadians. It’s Canada’s national shame. And a new youth movement is rising up to hold Canadians to their Charter of Rights and Freedoms.”
Besides activism during the day on June 13, the group will be giving a presentation in Winnipeg; details below:
