Whom You Would Change You Must First Love

Recently, my co-worker stumbled across this video of a young girl delivering her testimony of a near-abortion experience. The girl’s mother was set to have a sex-selection abortion at 8 months. There happened to be a pro-life activist standing outside the clinic hoping to talk to women before they entered. She approached this girl’s mother and begged her not to kill her child.

Dear Friends,

A baby boy was born in Calgary this year.  He will spend his first Christmas safe in his mother's arms thanks to CCBR's work: He was scheduled to be aborted last year, but his mom changed her mind because of seeing our young staffers standing in the rain with graphic images of abortion. More children need to be saved from abortion--and we need your help.

I was contemplating today how often I’m forced to write about how extraordinarily depressing our society has become in many senses. While examining various news sources, I came across an article in Slate Magazine by William Saletan, advocating for abortion’s legality in the early gestational stages and its illegality in the later stages, for reasons even he admitted were arbitrary.

The first time I had to do a public debate was in Grade 9. I was actually confident about speaking until we had to pick our debate topic out of a hat and I picked abortion—but for the pro-choice side! That wasn’t easy for someone like me who was already pro-life. It’s why, when I painstakingly gave my speech for abortion, I made sure to wear a little pro-life pin to show my true colours. Our discussion after the debate was heated, mirroring the mixed emotions of most of my classmates, and many Canadians.

Over the last several months, the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform has been training and activating young people across Canada to EndtheKilling. From British Columbia to Alberta to Ontario, young people are responding to the call and lending their voices to the ever-growing chorus demanding an end to the slaughter of one third of our generation. Each of these young people should be commended for what they are doing, and should be encouraged by the fact that they are part of a rising movement.

Last week on November 1st and 2nd, the Genocide Awareness Project (GAP) was held on the University of Calgary campus. This was the first time in three and a half years that the university didn’t place any censorship type restrictions on the display. It was the 8th time I had participated in GAP on the campus and also one of the best times. The weather turned out beautiful for us and the volunteers were engaged in discussions all day long.
