To Whom It May Concern:
I would like to recommend Jose (Jojo) Ruba as a guest speaker for your group on the topic of
abortion and pro-life concerns. Jojo speaks about the tragedy of abortion and the rights of the
unborn with conviction and compassion. He is sensitive yet able to speak the truth in a way
that our young people were able to grab a hold of.
Our youth were confronted as Christians about our responsibility to love the unborn and
their mothers. In a church setting, Jojo uses Scripture to remind Christians that loving our
neighbor includes protecting both the unborn child and the elderly widow.
Having grown up in the church in a pastor’s family, Jojo appreciates the many projects and
responsibilities of a church. However, he speaks to the church’s main responsibility to love God
and love our neighbors, which means we must do more to love the unborn.
As well, Jojo uses a powerful video during his presentation that reminds his audience the truth
about abortion – that it is killing a real human being. The video is a necessary part of his
presentation, as many Christians think about abortion in very abstract terms. Jojo presents the
video gently, encouraging those who don’t know about abortion to learn what it is. He also helps
those who have had abortions in the past how to experience grace and forgiveness.
One of the most impacting parts of Jojo’s presentation for my youth where seeing the
pictures and video clip. Youth told me that seeing the pictures and video made the topic of
abortion much more real and were themselves gripped with a conviction that abortion is
wrong.
We need more people like Jojo to speak the truth in love and caring enough to confront. For too
long, Christians have stood by idly, or worse, ignoring the plight of the unborn. Jojo takes
seriously these words in Scripture:
“Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say,
“But we knew nothing about this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he
who guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?”
Proverbs 24:11-12
As a result, Jojo has dedicated his life to educating, challenging and allowing the Holy Spirit to
use him to convict Christians to stand up and be counted. He has left a promising career in the
government because he believes in this purpose so strongly.
Jojo is not only a skilled communicator, but a thinker as well, and is not afraid to wrestle with
tough issues. He is also skilled in the area of apologetics and his conversations with others have
