To whom it may concern:
It is my honour and pleasure to recommend Jose (Jojo) Ruba as a passionate, thoughtful and well-spoken guest speaker on both the topics of Apologetics and the Pro-life argument and cause. I was originally introduced to Jojo through a small group Bible study held through Centre Street Church. Since then he has been a regular guest speaker in my Religious Ethics class at Calgary Christian High School.
As part of my Religious Ethics course, students are challenged to "learn to stand up for what we (they) believe in by putting our (their) faith into active response. We (they) begin by grappling with what we (they) believe, and why we (they) believe it". Jojo does an excellent job of challenging my students to see the need for truth in our world today through multimedia and powerful analogies. He is able to create quickly a comfortable classroom environment where my students are encouraged to interact and ask questions.
In the second presentation, Jojo gently transitions to speaking about his concerns for the unborn. As part of his presentation, Jojo utilizes a powerful video that reminds the audience of the truth behind abortion - the killing of a human being. Jojo always offers the students the opportunity to decline viewing the video, if they are overly sensitive to graphic images. It is explained to them that they may look down or away from the screen and that the short video will be over when the music is finished. I have viewed the video myself and find that it is important to see the reality of what is occurring right now in our country everyday but respect the choice of my students to abstain.
In reflective journaling, nearly all of my students have praised Jojo's presentations for igniting a passion for both speaking their faith in truth and for also creating a greater awareness for the Pro-life cause.
